PERFORMANCE WINTER CLIMBING

Performance Winter Climbing with Synergy Guides is all about quality and quantity. Our aim is to allow you to push your grade safely in the company of an experienced guide.

We have all been at the crossroads of improving our climbing grades. Sometimes it is difficult to get the experience needed to take the next step toward steep ice climbing or technical mixed climbing. This is your chance to learn from a local expert about the process of Performance Winter Climbing and achieving grade V and above. With this in mind, it is important to have substantial winter mountaineering experience or have completed an Intro to Winter Climbing course or equivalent.

  • Climb graded winter routes from Scottish IV – VI+
  • Recap and refine safe approach techniques and avalanche awareness
  • Take an in-depth look at the kit and how it can help improve your grade
  • Master your mixed and steep ice climbing technique
  • Bespoke – book any number of days that suit you or your team

The amount of climbing we provide is totally up to you as our team works on a private guiding basis, so you can decide how many days you want to climb. For multi-day bookings, we provide great value for money by including free spare days to get the best climbing conditions.

Be assured, by booking with Synergy Guides you will receive a tailor-made itinerary depending on your aspirations, fitness and your group compatibility. Performance Winter Climbing – What to expect

Initially, you will speak with your guide a few days prior to the start date. At which point you can agree to a suitable time to meet in the morning, inform them of any kit requirements you have for the duration of your stay and agree on the planned content of your Performance Winter Climbing days.

What to pack for Scottish Winter Climbing might be a defining factor in helping you achieve your next grade, with this in mind we will spend a little extra time in the morning discussing the use of specialist winter climbing ‘rack’ and distribute items amongst the team.

Discuss the most up to date avalanche forecast and recent weather patterns to decide on a suitable climbing venue. If you have booked a predetermined route there will be a consideration at this point as to whether it is viable, if not an alternative route can be climbed taking into account the current avalanche and weather forecast.

An example of Performance Winter Climbing routes are but is not limited to; Point Five Gully, Orion Face Direct, Crest Route, The Pumpkin, Tilt, Cutlass and West Chimney.
